VOCALS , Reverb , Chorus , Auto Tune

So I am starting to find out

basically everyone uses REVERB on their vocals ,

I oddly was messing around with GUITAR EFFECT CHORUS VST on Vocals , which sound pretty kool as well.

and then their is AUTO TUNE.

So how is using REVERB isn't really considered cheating like Auto Tune ?

And what is REVERB doing to a VOCAL that makes it so different and better ?

Reverb a more natural sound is why, and you can get it in real life. I don't think of it as cheating, you can always add reverb on vocals to help it sit better and smooth things over just a little bit. Maybe it becomes cheating when you are trying to cover up a weak performance.

Some genres of music like reverb and echo on the vocals ....Reggae music and some experimental rock music are good examples of this.. it's not 'cheating' just the way the genre has developed over the years.... much the same way as using a bottleneck or a capo on a guitar isn't cheating ...try telling a Flamenco player using a capo is cheating.....

Autotune and vocal harmonizers are a whole different thing.....
