Better than 'English Only' would be :

"Please use the best English available to you. Many of our members and visitors are not native English speakers. Understanding English can be difficult, understanding bad English is harder."

Sorry but I have no intention of ever going down that route.

BossArea was based on being an inclusive and friendly place and SBZ will be the same.

While English is the main language of the forum It will never prescribed that it is the only language allowed to be used. Preferable yes, the rule no.

I don't see how that excludes using the best English (or whatever language) available to you...

You do know that BAF was actually an 'English only' forum? So in that regard, SBZ is not just like BAF.

It doesn't, but I don't see the point about having a rule for it, it's more just common sense. The less rules the better.

It was English by use sure but I don't see it in the BAF rules http://www.bossarea.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=3.

The reason I don't want to prescribe it is so that If someone came along and wanted help with a pedal and their English wasn't upto describing the problem and there was a member who understood their first language we'd still be able to help them. The forum rules are for bigger things than this.

Also after looking through that old thread I definitely prefer Zerk's old avatar ;)

Rules or not, Mully was moderated for including some German in one of his posts.
There was some discussion and basically the outcome was that English was the sole languge to be used on BAF.

For the record, I think it was a rather unfair decision.

Given that this discussion was triggered by a spammer who doesn't follow the rules anyway it's pretty much a moot issue for now.

I also perfer the old avatar but the size restrictions won't allow me to put that one up
